Description

Polarsteps is on a mission to inspire and connect people through travel.

Our rapidly growing team of 15 (and counting!) is building the place to go to for travelers that want to plan, track and remember their adventures around the globe. In the last 3 years we have welcomed over 2.000.000 users who added steps in 180+ countries. Our app was featured in Apple's WWDC keynote speeches of 2017 and 2018, and just a few months ago Google created this amazing short video about us. Surely, this puts a huge smile on our face, but our adventure has only just begun!

iOS development at Polarsteps

We care deeply about ensuring a seamless, top quality user experience for every one of our travelers. We provide a fundamentally new type of product and are continuously iterating and innovating to turn it into the best travel app out there - that's why we've been featured multiple times in the App Store and hold a close relationship with Apple. As an iOS engineer at Polarsteps, you can expect to work with a small team across these challenges. This includes everything from fine tuning the performance of our app to building complex state-of-the-art interfaces.

All new code we write is in Swift, and we're not married to any particular architecture - we use what makes sense where it makes sense. So no, we're not creating a VIPER stack for that settings screen with one switch and two buttons. We are also not obsessed with test coverage percentages, what we aim for is reasonable qualitative coverage. And yes, that nicely refactored class will be reviewed by a peer before it's merged to master.

Our ideal candidate

  • Is a seasoned, professional and pragmatic developer with a feel for product and 5+ years experience
  • Loves to travel
  • Enjoys solving complex challenges
  • Has worked with Objective-C in the past, but enjoys all the bells and whistles of Swift
  • Doesn't need to have a Computer Science degree, but holds a sound understanding of CS fundamentals
  • Has extensive experience with large apps published in the App Store.

If (most of) this applies to you, then you’re the rainbow unicorn we’re looking for!
